Movie: Robin Hood

Release Date: 14 May 2010 (USA)

Runtime: 134 min

Birth of a legend.

Following King Richard's death in France, archer Robin Longstride, along with Will Scarlett, Alan-a-Dale and Little John, returns to England. They encounter the dying Robert of Locksley, whose party was ambushed by treacherous Godfrey, who hopes to facilitate a French invasion of England. Robin promises the dying knight he will return his sword to his father Walter in Nottingham. Here Walter encourages him to impersonate the dead man to prevent his land being confiscated by the crown, and he finds himself with Marian, a ready-made wife. Hoping to stir baronial opposition to weak King John and allow an easy French take-over, Godfrey worms his way into the king's service as Earl Marshal of England and brutally invades towns under the pretext of collecting Royal taxes. Can Robin navigate the politics of barons, royals, traitors, and the French?

All show times are in sl time.

There are 46 minutes between when the movie ends and the next begins so you have plenty of time if you are late but try not to be more than 40 minutes late if you want to be sure of seeing it all :). The reason there is so much time between show times is because the movie is so long. This way if you need to stand and do something in rl, you need only press pause in your viewer (NOT on the tv in world), go do what you need to do, return and press play again to pick up where you left off. This allows you plenty of time to see the entire movie :). (be sure you are pressing pause and not stop or you will have to start viewering the movie from the beginning again!!!)

The Show Times Are (subject to change according to attendance):

5:00am - 7:14am

8:00am - 10:14am

11:00am - 1:14pm

Please remember that, unless you are here when start the movie (Phoenix viewer and some others), the movie will not automatically start as soon as you land. Viewer 2 users MUST press play even if you are here when when I start the movie. The play button for Phoenix and some other viewers is on the bottom right of your screen next to what looks like a small movie camera. If you are in viewer 2 and don't know how to play just the media without the music on the land playing at well: To play media (movie) only, go to the play/pause icon next to the speaker icon on the top right of your viewer. Today starting at 3pm we will have 3 different amazing musisans performing. For those of you who came to our Fall of the Year ~ Festival Samhain you know just what sort of a treat you are in for.

3pm - 4pm - Zachh Cale

Zachh sings songs in a mashup style of pop, classical, soul, jazz and new age. Schooled in classical piano, he later learned to play more by ear, sing in a more soulful manner, and trust his musical "gut."

Now he blends both traditional and popular approaches to composition and performance. The result is a fresh and varied combination of melodies, rhythms, and arrangements which he hopes stimulates both hearts and minds of listeners.

He also writes music for solo piano. Come hear for yourself!

4pm - 5pm - Moss

Mordewis Greymyst (Moss Bliss IRL) has been playing guitar badly since 1964 and has been known to sing passably. He has written a few award-winning songs (no, not Grammys), but mostly finds and performs rare and/or forgotten songs that are known only to die-hard folk musicians with ears for lyrical excellence. His performances are largely reserved for Science Fiction conventions and Pagan gatherings, where he breaks out the songs he is too embarrassed to play elsewhere. He lives in Sevierville TN USA with his four guitars, two housemates, three snakes, and four cats, and is very happy. He is also Senior Editor for a couple of small ePublishers, a Peer Support Specialist and mental health civil rights activist, and so many other differing endeavors it is hard for him to get around to music.

5pm - 6pm - The Jubilatores (Pavel Snowfield)

The Jubilatores perform medieval music from England, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and a few other countries in Europe.

Instruments include: Lute, oud, saz (guitarra Saricina), citol (guitarra latina), rebec, fyddle, psaltry, dulcimer, harp, jaw harp, drums of various types including riq, tar, dumbec, portitive organ, virginals, transverse flutes, recorders, dulcian, reed pipe, symphnoium/organistrum (hurdy gurdy), medieval bell, zills, Tombra mariana, gems horn, and various other instruments.

Come out and enjoy a great show!

Movie: Avatar

Release Date: 18 December 2009 (USA)
Runtime: 155 min
Part 1 - 75 min
Part 2 - 80 min

When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

All show times are in sl time. Because this is such a long movie, it's presented in two parts (this wasn't my idea, it's how the sl dvd is set up). As such, I will break up the show times into the two parts to allow more leaway for those who arrive a few minutes late or find they don't have time to finish the second part but can return for the second part later. It also gives you a brief intermission between parts to get up, get drinks, and other things before the next part so you dont miss anything (and with this particular movie, you REALLY don't want to miss anything!).

There is a 15 minute intermission between parts 1 and 2 and there is 10 minutes between when part 2 ends and the next beginning of part 1 starts. so all in all try not to be more than 10 minutes late for either part!

The Show Times Are:

Part 1~ 5:00am - 6:15am

Part 2~ 6:30am - 7:50am

After a random while, he always goes back to his "present" but is largely unable to affect his future. At age 28, he meets 20-yr old Clare Abshire. There are 27 pumpkins scattered about the sim, most will be in plain or nearly plain sight. (Hope you don't mind getting a little wet!) But there are Ten that we took extra care in hiding, these may be smaller than the others so look clostly. We have given you a nudge in the right Direction with the poem below, read through it and when you are walking about to find the others if you see a place that looks like what the hint is refering to take a little extra time there.

Please do note that the houses are privately owned and so you will find no pumpkins hidden in the houses just around them. Also there will be nothing above the cloud line.

Congradulations Blog readers! You get Bonus Hints at the end of this post!

The Stolen Child by W.B. Yeats

1 Where dips the ROCKY highland

Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,

2 There lies a leafy ISLAND

Where flapping herons wake

The drowsy water rats;

3 There we've hid our FAERY vats,

Full of berrys

And of reddest stolen cherries.

Come away, O human child!

To the waters and the wild

With a faery, hand in hand,

For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

4 Where the wave of moonlight glosses

The dim gray SANDS with light,

Far off by furthest Rosses

5 We foot it all the night,

Weaving olden DANCES

Mingling hands and mingling glances

6 Till the MOON has taken flight;

To and fro we leap

And chase the frothy bubbles,

While the world is full of troubles

And anxious in its sleep.

Come away, O human child!

To the waters and the wild

With a faery, hand in hand,

For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

7 Where the wandering WATER GUSHES

FROM THE HILLS above Glen-Car,

In pools among the rushes

That scarce could bathe a star,

8 We seek for SLUMBERING TROUT

And whispering in their ears

Give them unquiet dreams;

Leaning softly out

9 From ferns that DROP THEIR TEARS

OVER THE YOUNG STREAMS

Come away, O human child!

To the waters and the wild

With a faery, hand in hand,

For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Away with us he's going,

The solemn-eyed:

He'll hear no more the lowing

10 Of the calves on the warm HILLSIDE

Or the kettle on the hob

Sing peace into his breast,

Or see the brown mice bob

Round and round the oatmeal chest.

For he comes, the human child,

To the waters and the wild

With a faery, hand in hand,

For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand.

BONUS HINTS:

1 Dragons will hide their treasure in a cave.

Its almost time! Our hunt and Festival start tomorrow! We are so excited, at least I am. Here is our third and final hunt item preview so you know some of what you may find in this hunt. So come by tomorrow from some great music and a costume party and keep an eye out for these pretty little pumpkins!

A lovely floral seat for you.
The poem The Stolen Child by W.B. Yeats is a bit of a theme for Alurel. So as a gift from The Waters and The Wild you have two Tattoos in both brighter and darker tones in a fall theme.
And what magical wood or cave would be complete without a hidden waterfall?

Happy Hunting!

The start Date of the festival is getting ever closer and we still have much to do! Please remember that the final due date to submit your photos for the competion is the 24th of October, then Voting will begin and I can not wait to have all the great photos on display!

Rules Post

What is a competitive hunt? Most of us have been through a standard treasure hunt. SL is full of them. They generally last a week or two during with lots of people come to find all the items.

Now forget all of that.

This hunt will last for one hour only.
Yes there will be many of you hunting the sim over, just like the usual type of hunt.
No, most of you will not find what you are hunting for.

Why?

Simple, there are only four prizes. Three silver pumpkins and one golden pumpkin.
Ok so what's stopping a whole bunch of you from finding all four?
They're all NO COPY!!!

Inside the three silver pumpkins are three no copy items, one each, from three different "master" merchants, as I call them. These are people who are incredibly gifted at sculpting, the making of textures and possibly scripting. They came at no small expense.

The Items are:

Silverfall Dragon Shoulder pet from the Order of Avalon

Emergence - a sculpture by Pumpkin Tripsa

The Lover's Tree - Cuddles Only version by DIGS

(These posters will be set up between the Drum Circle and Performance Pavilion in a scale large enough to be easily read along with examples of what the pumpkins look like)

Now, what is in the GOLDEN pumpkin?!

A scroll case.

OMG!!!!

REALLY?!

wow. a scroll case. oooo. *yawn*

Ok I know it doesn't sound exciting does it. So I looked on the market place and found a freebie scroll case that was full perm. I made it no copy, tossed it to a friend who tossed it back and now I have a no copy, freebie scroll case, yay!

Yeah I know. Sounds bad right? So why would I spend so much money on items for those silver pumpkins and put a freebie, now no copy scroll case inside the golden pumpkin?
It's what's inside the scroll case that you want.
Ok, so you get the scroll case out of the pumpkin. But you can't rez in this sim right?

                WEAR IT YOU NUT!

That's right, wear it (maybe have to turn off your ao). Then left click it.

I SAID LEFT CLICK NOT EDIT!!

Now you have a window with a number 1 in it.
1 what?
Well click the 1 and find out?!

It's a deed. Yes as in a deed of land. By finding the golden pumpkin, wearing the scrollcase, left clicking it, clicking that number 1 and receiving the notecard deed it contains, you have now won a deed of land in Alurel.

What you may not realize is that Alurel is a Fantasy themed residential sim. That deed you are now holding entitles you to a parcel of land size 2048 sq m or smaller anywhere you choose in the sim for one month free of tier.

YES I SAID FREE OF TIER.

As in you may live here on this sim for one month for free. (Be sure to read the deed!)

As such, if you already have a home somewhere in sl that you are perfectly happy with and have no intention of ever leaving then if you find that golden pumpkin, just walk on by and let someone else find it. After all, if you are happy where you are and aren't going to use it, why not let someone else have the fun of finding it?

TO CURRENT ALUREL RESIDENTS: THE GOLDEN PUMPKIN IS OFF LIMITS TO YOU!

Alurel residents may hunt for the silver pumpkins, but if you see the golden one, just walk on by and call no attention to it. If i suspect cheating (and I WILL be watching the minimap for people suddenly being teleported to pumpkin locations) then there WILL be consequences.

There is no flying during this hunt! Flight will be turned off! Yes I know it's easy to override. But since I am not hunting, I WILL BE FLYING AND MONITORING THE SKIES TO BE SURE NO ONE IS CHEATING.

It's a game, people, and we're all adults!
Have fun!
You Phoenix viewer people, the pumpkins are not named pumpkin, area search won't work.
You'll never guess WHAT I named them he he he :P~~~

As each pumpkin is found, IM Aianna Oh (that would be me), so that I can call you all back in once they've all been found!

Good luck and Happy Hunting!!

Love and Light,
Aianna Oh

Marta Huntress of SWEET DREAMS

Welcome to our forest! Love Light and Blessings to you!

We are now bringing you the second sneak peek into what you might find in the hunt pumpkins that will be growing around our lovely forest starting on October 24th. Interested in more? Check out the first hunt Item preview, or take a look at who will be performing for the festival, you can find the full schedual here too.

Looking for a quiet home? This one might do the trick and and would be a great place to hang a rope swing.
Walking through the forest is just not the same with out the fall leaves being kicked up as you go. This little attachment should do the trick, wear it and walk.
A thing of beauty, you can bring a little of the magic of Alurel right into your home with this little lily.
Rotating Doll Keys, both large and small with a handcarved seasonal look.

Happy Hunting!

While you can read through our Schedule to see who is performing for our weeklong festival that seems a little clunky and perhaps unnecessarily time consuming. So I am adding this post as well it is a listing of all of the performers in Alphabetical order by first name with their picture, a brief summary of what they do and a link to their full bio and position in the schedule. That way when you find a performer who looks interesting you can find when they will be performing very simply. I hope this is helpful.
